The Location & Venue

Tuscany: a classic & charming central Italian experience

Known for rolling hills, cypress-lined streets, rows of vines and olive groves, and fabulous Chianti wines, Tuscany is probably one of the most famous of Italy’s many beautiful regions. Tuscany holds a particular charm and magic that has been captivating souls for centuries.

Many Italians consider Toscana to be the “heart” of Italy with its beautiful landscapes, rich history and legacy of art. With the impact of the Renaissance era, this region perhaps influenced and shaped Italian culture in one of the most significant ways.

Retreat Villa

Where We Will Stay: a villa in the countryside

Nestled in the picturesque, Italian countryside, you will find a luxurious villa that is comfortable and elegant while maintaining old world charm.

The villa has a classic Tuscan farmhouse style. There are beautiful indoor and outdoor living spaces with spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside for guests to enjoy. The villa rests on plenty of land with room to explore, take a nature walk, or cozy up on the terrace to watch the sunset.

Each room is uniquely designed and has beautiful and comfortable accommodations for two with beautiful views of the surrounding area.

The common spaces of the villa are elegant with a touch of rustic appeal. Whether you choose to relax by the outdoor heated pool, take a walk on the grounds, practice yoga in the garden, sketch the view, or sip a hot cup of coffee cuddled on the couch in the stone house, there is room to gather in all the various spaces.

When we are dining in, all meals enjoyed at the villa are prepared using local, quality ingredients, whether gathering around the table indoors or enjoying a meal al fresco.

What You Can Expect on the Retreat

A Uniquely Designed Retreat for Women: helping you value & savor slow living

It is an absolute joy for me to share Italy with other women. While living in Italy, Italian culture became a part of my own culture. It taught me so much and changed me for the better and I love to share the slow living pace that Italy has to offer.

This retreat is for women looking for an exclusive, curated experience (limited to only four 8 attendees) discovering beauty, old world charm, culture, & slow living in the region of Toscana.

There will be time for visits to small villages where we will explore and stroll, taking in the views. We will visit Italy’s largest antiques’ market while on the retreat where you are sure to find vintage and antique treasures to bring back into your own home. We will visit an organic winery and enjoy a tasting of their prestigious wines. Of course, no trip to Italy would be complete without also enjoying exquisite, local cuisine typical of the region. Each aspect of the retreat is carefully curated to provide a tailored experience for the attendees.

Once the retreat begins, it is completely all-inclusive. You will be able to relax, rest, recharge, and enjoy the loveliest and most magaical place on earth, while making new friends and memories to last a lifetime.

Live Slowly: intentional itinerary to help you enjoy and savor all that Italy has to offer

As with all retreats that we offer, this retreat will focus on slow living. There will be time for our Slow Living Workshop where you will learn the value of a slower paced life and all that life has to offer. With hands-on observation of the Italian culture, this lifestyle will be evident.

Because of the theme and nature of the retreat, the pace is relaxed. There is not a demanding schedule and list of sights to see. Rather, there is a planned, balanced mixture of time to relax and rest while exploring and experiencing the beauty of Italy.

As with any retreat in Italy, food is a priority. Authentic, local cuisine will be enjoyed and savored along with fabulous local wines.

All retreats with Old World Italian leave room for relaxing back at the villa. As mentioned, there will be time set aside to enjoy the luxurious accommodations and gorgeous views overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Simply savor the culture of Italia.

Meet Your Host

Ciao a tutte! I’m Sommer

I have always loved Italy. Nearly two decades ago, my husband and I created and opened an artisanal gelateria handcrafting gelato each day. We travelled to Italy to be trained in gelato making and while there, fell head over heels for Italia. We never imagined that years later, we would end up moving there. While running our business, we enjoyed creating unique flavors of gelato and serving it to our community daily. It was such a joy to see people’s faces light up tasting our gelato and being reminded of their own unique travels to Italy.

After many years of this life, we sold our two gelaterie locations and it was a complete * refresh * for our family. By this time, we had two little baby boys. We sold our home, our cars, and all of our belongings and moved to Italy for a great adventure that lasted for years. Even now, it continues in a new way.

Living in Italy was a wonderful experience for our family. The experience taught us to live slowly and savor everyday life. It gave us a very unique perspective on time, productivity, and relationships. It helped us to look at what people truly value in life.

Life brought us back to the States, but it is now our joy to travel back to our “second home” and share our love for it with others like you. Italy is more than a travel destination. It’s a culture, a way of life, an experience.

As a busy mom, I know the value of slowing things down to rest and recharge. Taking time to be filled back up can help you be able to give back to your own family. There’s nowhere else in the world where I rest and recharge more than in Italy.

I want to invite you to join me for an unforgettable experience. Join me for a week that is specifically curated and set aside for you to discover the beauty of Italy and the slow living lifestyle that it has to offer.
